Fluccish is the common term for the language spoken in the saecular world. Its development is not traced directly back to Orth, but rather to one of the "barbarian" tongues from the period of the Bazian Empire. Still, Fluccish uses many terms from Orth, particularly in the realms of abstract and technical vocabulary. The relationship between Fluccish and Orth is therefore similar to that between English and Latin.
In the late Fourth Millennium A.R., Fluccish was written using transient, ad hoc writing systems such as kinagrams and logotype, though it could be transcribed into the Orth alphabet.
