A unarian math is one in which the avout are sworn to live an ascetic life of study for one year, from one Apert to the next. Oftentimes foundlings are left in the care of the unarian math at a concent until they are old enough to find their way to the decenarian math; other members of the math may be middle-aged dilettantes, Saecular adolescents who use the unarian math for a few years as a kind of finishing school, or others not yet ready to commit to the ten year term of the decanarians.
Unarian is also the formal term for any member of such a math. Informally, the avout of such a math are called "one-offs" by the members of a more dedicated math.
